Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

What happens when we die? Where do we go? Do we even continue to exist? The author of this book looks at these questions many of us have, and tries to give us an answer in the form of Elsewhere, a place very like Earth, but strangely different at the same time. I have to say that this was one of those books I had to force myself to go back to, but in the end I’m really glad I finished it. It tells the story of 15-year-old Liz who is killed in a bicycle accident, waking up on a ship headed to Elsewhere. At first she doesn’t even realize she’s dead, and fights settling into her new life until she begins becoming attached to people in her new world, especially a handsome 17-year-old rescue worker who is still pining for the wife he left back on Earth.

This title is on order for the library.
