Story of a Girl by Sara Zarr

How cool is it that this story takes place in Pacifica? I just love books that use the Bay Area for the setting! It makes them feel more real, even though I know they are fiction.

This book is an engrossing read. It’s Deanna’s story, who at 13 is caught by her dad in the back seat of a 17-year-old’s car doing you-know-what. In that moment, her life changed forever. She became known as school slut after the senior bragged to all his friends about the incident. And her dad simply stopped talking to her completely. What I especially liked about this book were the characters. They seemed very realistic, like people you would meet here at BHS. Although the book talks about friendship, families and forgiveness, it never feels like the author is pushing ideas down your throat.

This book just arrived with a huge fiction order we got last week.  Be sure to stop by and check out our new titles!
