Challenge Activity #10

This is another summer reading challenge I’m trying to keep up with.  For this activity, I had to create a book cover using a random word, name, and image, and then write a fake summary  for the title.  Here are the directions:

“1 – Go to “Fake Name Generator” or click

The name that appears is your author name.

2 – Go to “Random Word Generator” or click

The word listed under “Random Verb” is your title.

3 – Go to “FlickrCC” or click

Type your title into the search box. The first photo that contains a person is your cover

4 – Use Picnik, or something similar to put it all together. Be sure to crop and/or zoom in

In terms of the activity for the Reading Challenge, I’m asking the participants to create the cover and write a short synopsis to go along with it.”

Kevin had lived in Oakland his entire life.  Sure he had seen drugs, and even addiction before.  Heck, his own dad was serving time in prison for failing to pass a drug test while on probation.  But he never saw drugs as part of his own future…until his met Leena.  She was beautiful, and smart and funny.  He couldn’t believe she really agreed to “hang” with him.  But she was high maintenance, in the words of his buddies.  Leena was used to her man taking care of her–nice threads, weekly nail shop appointments,  and lots of bling decorating her ears, neck and hands.  He knew his after school job tutoring younger kids at the middle school wasn’t going to be enough, but the other high paying options all involved drugs and the corner boys.  How far was he willing to go to be with Leena?…

Sorry for the pathetic attempt at Urban Drama.  Now you see why I read and review rather than write…

I think this story fits “withdraw” really well. It’s like he’ll either experience withdrawl from his girlfriend or drugs.

It’s fun! And I like the picture very much. And the name “Andrew van Boggele”! 🙂

Nice synopsis and cover – interesting that you came to that idea from your word! 🙂

Leena sounds like a right biotch.
I can completely see this happening in real life, too.
    Great cover and synopsis.
