Patient Zero by Jonathan Maberry
This fast-paced title will be a favorite for both horror and espionage readers. It begins with Baltimore detective Joe Ledger being recruited to be part of a special operations team that handles problems Homeland Security can’t fix. The book begins:
“When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week, there’s either something wrong with your skills or something wrong with your world.
And there’s nothing wrong with my skills.”
What Leger’s referring to is the first mission he and his group have been given: To stop a group of international terrorists from creating a biological weapon that will turn all humans into zombies. This book is pretty much non-stop action and will thrill readers looking for an engaging, gripping story. Ledger’s personality is realistic and smart; readers will find themselves hanging on his commands and decisions as he and his team try to say the world from the insane terrorists.
I recommend this title for fans of thrillers, spy stories and zombies. There is a series of Joe Ledger novels if you find yourself needing more, available from your public library or local bookstore. Maberry is also the author of the Rot & Ruin series, written specifically for young adults.
