Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Insurgent by Veronica Roth

In this sequel to Divergent, Roth picks up with Tris right where the readers left off.  Her initiation day into the Dauntless faction ended up in an all out battle, with horrendous results for Tris, the Dauntless and her family.  The book moves at lightening pace through subplots, conspiracies, and conspiracies within conspiracies.  Readers need to be on the alert to who is doing what to whom and why, or they will get lost in the quagmire of characters and twists and turns that comprise this sequel.

As a reader I got occasionally frustrated because it was difficult for me to keep all the characters and their true and pretended allegiances straight.  Despite this, Insurgent is a difficult book to put down, and I can recommend it highly.  I would strongly encourage readers to read Divergent first; this is not a series you can pick up in the middle.  Without giving anything away, I have to add that the ending was STUNNING!  I can’t wait for the third installment.
