The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
High school senior Rory will be attending boarding school In London while her parents will be living and working in Bristol. She arrives on the same day someone commits a murder similar to those of Jack the Ripper. As the pattern of murders continues, both the news media and police focus on the area around Rory’s school; one happens right on their campus. Rory realizes she’s seen the murderer himself and tells the police. Soon after that she and her roommate get a third roommate, who doesn’t impress Rory as much of a student. Rory works with the police, who are trying to keep her safe. Unfortunately I can’t tell anymore of the plot without giving away many surprises and secrets. I can say the plot goes through a number of twists and turns; the author has a great imagination!
Even readers who don’t read a lot of paranormal books will like this, since it has mystery and teen romance too. The author even left a little room for a sequel.
